Spirulina is a species of blue-green algae has been found to be in existence for billions of years. It grows best in extremely alkaline and pollution-free environments.

Spirulina is certified to be free of heavy metals and coliform bacteria by the Japan Food Analysis Centre and is therefore safe for long-term consumption with no side effects.
